Losing a loved one can be a very lonely experience. So many of us think that we have to be ‘strong’ and just ‘get through it’. It is my experience in the past year with the Survivor Follow-Up team that when given the opportunity, many survivors welcome being able to express their grief. The ‘ministry of presence’ can be very powerful.

Survivors of Suicide Support Group (SOS)

SOS is a group for people who have lost a loved one to suicide that meets over Zoom, every Wednesday.

Comfort Baskets

Survivor Care Team members meet with survivors following the traumatic death of a loved one and bring a Comfort Basket filled with resources, access to support groups, and comforting items.

On Scene Support

When someone traumatically loses a loved one to homicide, suicide, drowning, fire/traffic fatality, or other unexpected loss, they aren’t alone. A chaplain is there, 24/7/365, to catch them as their world falls apart.

Survivor Care Team

The Survivor Care Team provides follow-up care for people who were cared for by a chaplain on the scene of a traumatic loss. Many members of this trained volunteer team are also survivors of traumatic loss and provide hope.
